    K2 Technology
    MOD Technology
You'll notice that many of our models have a raised profile in the shovel and the tail of the skis. This is a dampener called Mini-Mod. It kills vibration at critical vibrational nodes and produces skis that are smoother, more stable and have better edge hold.
    Triaxial Braiding
Triaxial Braiding was introduced by K2 in 1988 and has withstood the test of time to rise to the top as the best torsion box construction process available. The patented and proprietary technology wraps an interlocking fiberglass weave around the ski with optimum torsional stiffness. The end result is a ski with greater sensitivity and better turn response with less effort.
    Metal Laminate
The Metal Laminate construction is the most complex and sophisticated construction involving a sandwich lay-up. Primarily because of the two sheets of titanium and extra glass layers, a Metal Laminate is very precise and accurate, as well as being extremely stable, damp, and supple. As a result, they have stiffer torsion and are designed for more aggressive and technical skiers.
    Progressive Sidecut
Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes critical and overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. By combining two different radii in the same sidecut, we've been able to improve both hard-snow performance and soft-snow versatility and forgiveness. We employ a deeper sidecut in the shovel to provide quicker turn initiation adn better edge hold, transitioning to a shallower sidecut in the tail to allow the ski to release easier in powder and crud.
    XCP Tip
The development of the XCP tip resulted in a new tip design. By moving our contact point 7cm forward, the skier is able to contact the snow sooner, thus drawing the skier into the turn quicker. It also effectively lenghtens the amount of edge on snow. Basically all of this provides the skier the shorter ski benefits such as lighter swing weight, and more maneuverability, but offers long ski benefits: added stability and greater carving power.
    Tele Inserts
[M5 (diameter) x 0.8 (thread pitch) inserts] Moving into Year 4, our telemark inserts have proven very successful and well received. Like snowboard inserts, they take the time and guesswork out of mounting, double the pull-out strength of bindings, and increase durability. To give you more mounting options, all of our telemark skis come with two sets of inserts, while the twin-tip models have three sets. They are compatible with most bindings (G3, Rottefella, Voile, Black Diamond, 22 Designs Hammerhead (w/adaptor) TeleBullDog, Bomber Bishop, 7tm (w/adaptor)). And they're so simple to mount, you can do it yourself.
